The ZigZag Circle
This exercise trains long distance shots and 1 on 1 situations between a field floorball player and the goalie at the same time. We call this exercise the zigzag circle as when you connect the shooting positions of the field players with a line, you will get a zigzag circle.
How to do it?
Starting point
- You are in the goal
- The field players are equally distributed in a semicircle a few meters far away from the goal
- Each field player has a ball
Movement
- The first field player shoots directly on the goal
- Once you saved the shot, the second field player next to him starts to run towards the goal and tries to overcome the floorball goalie
- Afterwards the third player shoots again
- The next field player runs in a 1 on 1
- And so on
Summary
This exercise is a very nice drill as it trains long distance shots and 1 on 1 situations at the same time. One big benefit of it is that you, as floorball goalie, have to be prepared for a completely new situation once you saved the ball. In other words, once you saved the long distance shot, you have to position yourself for the 1 on 1 situation immediately and vice versa.
