This exercise trains long distance shots and 1 on 1 situations between a field floorball player and the goalie at the same time. We call this exercise the zigzag circle as when you connect the shooting positions of the field players with a line, you will get a zigzag circle.
How to do it? Starting point
You are in the goal
The field players are equally distributed in a semicircle a few meters far away from the goal
Each field player has a ball
The first field player shoots directly on the goal
Once you saved the shot, the second field player next to him starts to run towards the goal and tries to overcome the floorball goalie
Afterwards the third player shoots again
The next field player runs in a 1 on 1
And so on
This exercise is a very nice drill as it trains long distance shots and 1 on 1 situations at the same time. One big benefit of it is that you, as floorball goalie, have to be prepared for a completely new situation once you saved the ball. In other words, once you saved the long distance shot, you have to position yourself for the 1 on 1 situation immediately and vice versa.
