The Good Boy Game
We love dogs. They are loyal, adorable, like to play and much much more. You can see, this exercise is a bit inspired by way you play with your dog, when you throw the ball and he brings it back. But of course we have adapted it to floorball goalkeeping.
How to do it? Exercise
Assistant takes one ball in each hand and spreads his arms out to the side
Goalie is in the initial position and faces the assistant
The assistant lets one ball fall to the ground
By using the forward movement sideways, the goalie goes to the ball and catches it
Repeat over and over again
For the beginning we recommend floorballs, as they bounce a bit less and are easier to catch. Later on you can take tennis balls to increase the difficulty. Also, the assistant can throw the ball over cross or more to the side to challenge the goalie more. Want to make it extra hard? Use reaction balls instead ;)
This exercise helps the goalie to improve his catching, forward movement and coordination. If you want to spice things up a little, you can also let the goalie dive for the ball. This adds a fun factor and helps to improve the aggression towards the ball.
