Short Distance Throw
In this post we take a look at most simple throw, the short distance throw.
How to do it?
- Starting point
- Where you caught the ball
- Movement
- Stand up and do some fast steps forward (mostly your opponents will move backwards)
- While you are moving forward, try to see if someone in long or mid distance is open
- If no one is open, look to your left and right
- Find the teammate who is not covered or the least under pressure
- Play him/her the ball by rolling it flat on the floor. Use the following steps:
- Hold the ball with your thumb, trigger finger and middle finger
- Do one step towards the way you want to play the ball
- Bend your knees as in picture
- Snap the ball softly from your wrist - the ball should not jump on the floor
- Notice
- Don’t do a “bowling” movement, as lose control over the throw
- You can try to trick opponents by faking the throw or throwing the ball between your legs
- If your teammates are too much under pressure or covered throw the ball as far as you can over the middle of the field to avoid dangerous situations around your goal (of course with hitting the floor once before crossing the midline)
- Always aim for your teammates blade, you’ll look better and your teammates will feel safer around you
- Final point
- Waiting and kneeling in goal (do not stand, just in case a teammate does a mistake)
