Shin box - Movement series
A good catcher cannot be a successful goalie if he or she does not know how to move and be in position and vise versa. To be successful, you have to combine different skills. In this mobility post, we want to combine different shin box movements into a workflow. We start with the following three movements:
How to do it:
- Starting point:
- You are in the basic shin box position (link)
- Keep your torso upright during the whole exercise
- Your feet are planted on the floor and should keep to the floor during the exercise
- Movement:
- Shin box – switch back and forth
- Shin box – Hip raise
- Shin box – Middle Split
- Shin box – Hip raise
- Shin box – Middle Split
- Now you are back in the initial position and can repeat it again
Summary
In our opinion, the shin box movements are very powerful and can be adopted quite easy to floorball goalie movements. For example -
the shin box middle split helps get into the dive on your weak side and
the shin box hip raise is very useful when it comes to the situation that you are sitting on your butt and want to get back in the initial floorball goalie position on your knees without using your hands to lift you up.
One last word, it is very helpful to train the position changes and vary series to train the automatism to be able to decide/react immediately which movement is the best in certain situations.
