Movement straight forward
This post explains you the basic way to move straight forward. It is one of the first movements that you should learn when you start to become a successful goalie. This move keeps your upper body focused on a potential shot, as the whole movement will be done with the legs. I (Lars) like to compare it with a swimming duck. Above the water surface, the duck swims easy and peaceful but when you take a look under water, you see that it does a lot of movement with its legs.
How to do it?
- Starting point
- Starting point is the initial position (link)
- Feet are on the arch of the foot – this will help you to slide easier as the shoe sole does not brake you
- Movement
- Set up one leg - the angle of the hollow of your knee is 90 degrees
- Push the set up leg forwards and roll your body above it
- The movement does not need a lot of strengh or boost
- The whole strength of the movement comes from the set up leg, the other leg just slides
- Final point
- Final point is the starting point - Initial position
Good exercise to train it
