Command Catch
It is always great to train his/her reaction skills with a small competition. This exercise makes a lot of fun and reminds me to my childhood where we played a similar game every Friday in school. We called it “Command Pimpale”. Please do not ask me where the name comes from – I have no idea :D. Command catch is similar and be explained in the following rows. Try it out and enjoy it.
How to do it?
- Starting Point
- Goalies are in the initial position and facing each other
- One floorball is in the middle
- The assist stands on the side
- Exercise
- The assist has the task to give the following commands
- Head – Goalies touch their head
- Knee – Goalies touch their knees
- Chest – Goalies touch their chest
- Back – Goalies touch their back
- Foot – Goalies touch their shoes
- CATCH – Goalies grab the ball
- The goalies follow the command and stay in the position until they hear the next command
- Once the assistant gives the command catch, be the first one who grabs the ball
Summary – create a small competition with more goalies
This exercise is a very nice warm up and perfect for a small competition when someone has to coach a couple of goalies at the same time. Create pairs of two and build one line. All pairs are following the commands of one assistant. Once a round is finished, the winner of the battle moves one position up and the other person one position down. Let’s see who is the champion of reaction after a few rounds.
