Catch the correct Ball
Coloured balls have always given us the opportunity to create new and awesome hand-eye coordination drills. This one is no exclusion ;)
How to do it?
Exercise
- Goalie and assistant face each other in a distance of 3 to max. 7 meters
- Assistant has three balls in different colours in his hands
- We recommend for the beginning to throw three balls with two hands
- Assistant throws balls at goalkeeper
- The assistant has to give the command for the goalkeeper which ball he or she has to catch
- The assistant can give the command (depending on the goalies skill level) before, while or shortly after releasing the ball from his/her hands
- The goalie tries to catch the ball which he got the command for
- Repeat over as often as you want
How to improve difficulty:
- Give command later
- Give command to catch two colours
- Try to catch the balls in order of the command
- Add more balls
Summary
This exercise helps improving your ball tracking, catching and hand-eye coordination. Some tipps for the setup:
- Let goalie stand in front of a wall or goal, so you don't have to walk too far to pick up the balls
- The more coloured balls you have ready, the less you have to worry about picking them up
