Beach Holiday Workout for motivated Floorball Goalies
Are you one of those goalies who can’t sit still and always have to train? The time between the end of the past season and the beginning of the new season is way too long? Besides that, you still love going on vacation? Well, here we have some Beach Holiday Exercises for you.
Sand Sprints
Sprinting on Sand will make your blood pumping. You build your leg muscles and work on your speed. Because of the uneven surface, you automatically focus on your sprinting technique, which during summer training might be in your advantage.Water Sprints
Pretty much the same as Sand Sprints, but with more focus on strength and less focus on technique. Besides that, the water is very refreshing.Sunbed Jumps
Looks easy, but is pretty exhausting. As well a good focus on leg strength, but also on resilience, which is very important for floorball goalies. The difficulty increases automatically, as after every jump you kind of dig a hole in the sand. Still too easy? No Problem, just turn the sunbed on its side.Wave Jumps
Depending on the beach you are at, you can try to jump over the waves. The water builds a good resistance against your jumping motion, which also helps building strength and resilience. The further you go into the water, the more difficult it gets. Like Water Sprints, this one is pretty refreshing. Downside: it might need some time till you get some good waves.Water Stomps
Similar to Water Sprints, but here you can go deeper into the water. Keep your torso upright and lift your knees as high as possible. The higher the pace, the more exhausting it gets.Sunbed Rebounder
Using the sunbed as a rebounder was maybe one of the smartest ideas during this vacation in Greece. If you don’t have a tennis ball or anything similar with you, you can buy some rubber balls in the shops nearby. Usually they cost not more than 5€. The harder the ball, the better the repellence.Beachequipment Juggling
Surely most of you learnt to juggle with at least three balls, if not we got a perfect guide you can find
here. Anyways, have you ever tried to juggle a ball, a flipflop and your sunscreen? Well, there you have your new challenge. We all know that juggling is great for hand-eye coordination, but the combination of objects in different shapes, that never weight the same and have different flight qualities will surely put your head to work.
Summary
These are some simple drills you can basically do at any beach. The water and the sand increase the difficulty and the (hopefully) shining sun will make you sweat immediately. That’s why you should stay well hydrated during all these exercises when you do them. Don’t forget to put on sunscreen and if you use a sunbed, always put it back in place. And most importantly, take your time to relax and get your head free.
A special thanks goes to my awesome girlfriend Dejana who took the time to film me during the holidays or is always there to take some pictures. This video could not have been done without your support!
